Piaget's Millionth Watch: Piaget Emperador Full-Set Coussin Perpetual Calendar

Its certainly an awe inspiring feat to deliver the one millionth watch baring the mark of the manufacturer - Piaget. More so since Piaget is not known for prolific mass market watch production, but rather painstakingly meticulous craftsmanship creating mechanical masterpieces of exceptional quality and extreme precision, not to mention the combination of intriguing complications and dazzling diamond displays.

The Piaget Emperador Full-Set Coussin Perpetual Calendar does great tribute to the Piaget legacy which began in simple settings. In 1874 Georges- Edouard Piaget set up his workshop on his families farm in La Côte-aux-Fées, a small town nestled in Jura mountains of Switzerland. He devoted himself to making fine mechanical clock movements for renowned watch manufacturers. It was not long before it became apparent that his craftsmanship surpassed that of other watchmakers of that time, and orders came pouring in. In 1911, his son, Timothee Piaget took over the family business with the same fortitude and success. In 1943, the Piaget brand was created. The brand was an instant hit and people from all over wanted a Piaget timepiece. Piaget strove for perfection, and when perfection was reached, strove for perfection in areas where perfection was almost ,but not quite, impossible. For example, in the late 1950's and 1960's Piaget created exceptional ultra-thin mechanical movements , such as the Caliber 12p movement. Just 2.3mm thick, this watch achieved the feat of being the slimmest self-winding movement in the world, since the rotor itself usually increases thickness.

In 1957, Piaget's iconic watch collection was unveiled - the Emperador. Piaget's one millionth watch stems from this collection. Only 20 such watches shall be released in 2010, heightening the collectibility. Incorporated in the mechanical movement is a perpetual calender - a watch complication accounting for leap years until the year 2100. A 5.66 mm thick, in-house automatic, mechanical, Calibre 856P movement beats at 21,600 vibrations per hour. Other iconic Piaget features include circular-grained and bevelled mainplate and bridges; hand-draw flanks, accented with blued screws and circular Côtes de Genève.

Yet it is the dazzling exterior of the watch that will catch the eye of watch collector and novice alike. 60 baguette-cut diamonds set on the bezel exquisitely frames the dial. The dial is a vision unto itself baring no less than 263 diamonds, 12 elegant dial markers and five sub dials. An hour and minute hand sweep across the dial while a sub dial placed at the 4 'o'clock position marks the seconds. The sub dial at the 12 'o'clock position reflects the intricate inner workings of the perpetual calender with the display of months and leap year as well as a unique date display at the 3'o'clock position overlapping the second sub dial. A retrograde day of the week display occupies the area between the 9 and 10 'o'clock. A final sub dial boasts a dual time zone two hands display: one hand for the second time and one hand to indicate the day and night. The final sub dial is quite a distinct feature on a perpetual calender timepiece. Turn the watch over and an exquisite surprise meets the eye. The jeweler not wanting to be limited to the dial and bezel has added 25 diamonds on the oscillating weight completely discernible via the clear case back.

Piaget's Millionth watch incorporates the exceptional craftsmanship of the company and honors its legacy.
Alas, as I mentioned only 20 pieces will be released; however, you can still wear a high-end genuine Piaget timepiece on your wrist. THE WATCHERY has a large selection of Piaget luxury timepieces for reduced prices, some slashed as much as 50% off the list price.
Wear a Piaget timepiece on your wrist and let it be known that your Piaget watch is one in a million.

Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Grande Tradition Grande Complication Watch Reaches the Stars

Living in a megalopolis, oftentimes I yearn for a clear view of the night sky free from glaring city lights. The Jaeger-LeCoultre master Grande Tradition Grande Complication unleashed this yearning with its exquisite depictions of the universe. The blue lacquer dial evokes a sense of another time, another place, perhaps an alchemists workshop or astronomers turret. However, there is nothing surreal about the impeccable craftsmanship and complication combination. Beneath the bold 18k white gold dauphine hands, encased in a 44mm wide 18k white gold case is a Jaeger-LeCoultre in-house caliber 945 manually wound movement comprised of 527 parts.
Complications include:
Minute Repeater specially designed to emit a loud chime; especially unique to Jaeger-LeCoultre. Amazingly Jaeger-LeCoultre achieved a 50 meter water resistance. Water Resistance t0 50 meters is rarely found in a watch with a minute repeater, as sealing the watch becomes quite a challenge.
One-Minute Flying Tourbillon which is a sidereal indicator as well. A sidereal day is exactly 23 hours, 56 minutes and 4.091 seconds and it is this exact day, the tourbillon takes to circle the entire dial. Astronomers mostly make use of the sidereal time by using it to ascertain where to point their telescopes to pinpoint a certain star in the night sky. Given the dial markings of this watch sidereal time is a most appropriate addition.
Only 75 pieces will be crafted making this watch a coveted item among the most noteworthy of collectors and maybe an astronomer or two.
Alas if six figures is beyond your reach, do not fret. You can own a exquisite Jaeger-LeCoultre luxury watch from THE WATCHERY. Choose from iconic collections such as the Reverso Squadro and Master Grande Memovox as 42% off the retail price.

Diesel Turns Up the Heat this Summer

Diesel watches have infused its watch collection with a myriad of color. Pink, blue, yellow, white and black are the chosen colors for the Ana Digi collection. . Kind of cool in a clunky 1980's gadgety way, the Diesel Ana Digi commands attention to ones wrist. The boxy face consists of two hemispheres, the northern hemisphere framed in brushed and polished yellow aluminium surrounds a negative digital time display, and the brushed and polished purple aluminium dominates the southern hemisphere. For those people who love this watch, but are not so crazy with digital time displays, diesel has added a good old fashioned analog time display. A comfortable electric blue silicon one piece watch strap contrasts with the blue, purple, silver, green and magenta accents.

10 Year Anniversary of de GRISIGONO's first Collection

Baselworld 2000 we were spoiled to the sighting of the first de GRISOGONO collection : InstrumentoUno. Now unmistakable by its sleek bold design. In commemoration of this, Fawaz Gruosi, founder and chairman of de GRISOGONO, has unveiled a trendy colorful take on its original collection. A vibrant aquamarine watch band fashioned from Galuchat, shark or stingray skin first used in luxury watch making by de GRISIGONO, compliments the matching hour numerals and the elegant band of paraiba tourmalines (aquamarine gems).
If you notice the watch band is bumpy - these bumps are calcified papillae called "placoid scales otherwise known as Denticles and are small outgrowths which cover the skin of many cartilaginous fish such as sharks and sting rays. In watch straps the placoid scales are polished down until the denticles are rounded and pearl like.

De Grisogono has taken the natural texture of the Galuchat and enhanced it with exceptional colors and polishing, creating a timepiece where the strap commands as much attention as the watch.

The iconic InstrumentoUno dial sports a a dual time zone display and a large date display in the 7:35 position. Beneath the sleek dial lies a premium automatic movement.

Once again, de GRISIGONO has swept watch lovers off their feet in another remarkable vision of perfection.

Richard Mille and Tennis Champion Rafael Nadel Launches the Tourbillon RM027 - One of the Lightest Watches Ever.

Back in May, Richard Mille celebrated the partnership with 24 year old Tennis Champion Rafael Nadel with the Launch of the Tourbillon Watch RM 027. Wimbledon begins tomorrow and Rafael Nadel will enter the court wearing the RM 027.
In regard to his partnership Rafael said,
"It is an honor for me that someone like Richard has chosen me as one of his ambassadors. Since the moment we met there was a special feeling. I know that has worked very hard to create this special watch. I am honored and I am sure it will be a special and successful partnership."

Weighing in at just 20g (without the lightweight strap) the RM 027 is specially designed so as not to add any extra weight to Rafael's wrist. Thus the RM027 has achieved a remarkable feat of becoming one of the lightest watches ever produced.

The watch is equipped with a tourbillon, in invented in 1795 by French watchmaker Abraham-Louis Breguet, a century after Newton defined gravity. Breguet reasoned that as a result of the constant position of the vertical position of the pocket watch, the balance spring is confounded by the effect of gravity effecting the accuracy of the watch. This error could be compensated with a tourbillion whereby the escapement, balance wheel, and balance spring is placed in a rotating carriage which turns once per minute on its own axis. It seems not only does the tourbillon defy the effects of gravity, but the watch as well, by weighing a mere 20 grams.
Richard Mille reduced the weight with absolutely no reduction of efficiency and accuracy. Richard Mille worked in close collaboration with Rafael Nadel while developing the RM 027. During his training sessions, Rafael wore the RM027 testing its weight and accuracy and will now wear it to his tennis matches.

This watch is a break through design on may levels: First, I have always advised not to wear a luxury watch during high impact sports like tennis ,where the wrist makes abrupt extreme movements, as the movement may not be able to withstand the shock and thereby become damaged; however the RM027 is super shock absorbent and the movement not be damaged during the match.

Secondly, the watch is extremely lightweight even with the tourbillon complication.

A remarkable design, and what better man to wear the watch than Rafael Nadel, who has won the French open, his fifth title in six years at Roland Garros and who is overtaking long time Tennis great, 29 year old Roger Federer. Nadal has beaten Federer 14 of the 21 times they have met, including six of the last seven matches. Although Federer has a long list of tennis victories, it seems Nadel has just begun to warm up, and 2010 Wimbledon is the perfect arena to achieve greatness.
The RM027 is Richard Mille's victory, and the perfect companion to a competitor striving for the Wimbledon title.

Hublot King Power Commemorates Mexico's 200th Anniversary

All decked out in the Mexican National Colors, Hublot KING POWER commemorates the 200th anniversary of Mexico's independence. Engraved on the case back is the famous "Bell of Dolores". The bell priest Miguel Hidalgo y Castillo rang, on September 16, 1810 in his small town of Doloes Guanajuato. to encourage his people of Mexico to liberate themselves from 300 years of Spanish ruling.

4 days later, the Mexican People heeded his call and hence the Battle of Guanajuato. It took another 10 years of revolting for Mexico to finally become independent on September 27, 1821.

Hublot is paying tribute to those early days where passion for liberty rose above all.

The vibrant rich forest green hands and number indicators as well as the deep red red counter bridges and red minute tracks exudes this passion. Surrounding the dial is a micro-blasted black ceramic bezel with molded black rubber. Punctuating the bezel is 6 relief black PVD H-shaped titanium screws - a signature of Hublot. Father Needs a Watch

There is nothing like a proud Dad wearing a watch he got for Father's Day. Forget about ties, LED flashlights, weird obscure tools, socks, a key chain from Niagara Falls. Get him a watch. A watch he will love. One that will befit his personality, hobbies and image.

If Dad always wears a suit - even on the weekend, then a vibrant yellow sporty watch probably will not be the best idea. You need a watch crafted from a solid metal like gold, platinum, steel or a combination. If dad hates clutter, he would want a watch with a simple dial without subdials. If you have run into some money then add a complication like a tourbillon or perpetual calender.
Excellent watches for "no nonsense, clutter hating Dad's", would be Movado's (really affordable and instantly recognizable). The Museum Collection have completely bare dials with only a gold shimmering dot at the 12 'o'clock. The "dot at the top" watch face is for a determined person who always has is goal in sight. If Dad is that sort than peruse through the large range of Movado men's watches at THE WATCHERY.

Okay now what if Dad is the "not so serious type". Yes he has embarrassed you more than once in front of your friends. Like the time he jumped fully clothed into the pool during your pool party. OMG, you could have died, or the time he came to "take your Dad to school day" with two different pairs of socks or the time he forgot about an egg he was boiling (and this is the exact reason why mom hates him in the kitchen) until the egg actually exploded onto the ceiling.
Well Dad is full of fun and you love him to bits, and that's why you have saved up quite a bit of dough to get him the best Father's Day gift ever. I suggest a Corum Bubble. Some Corum dials are quite hair raising: Skulls, bats, evil dark things and such, but that's up to you - you know Dad best. But the domed bubble covering the dial adds a sense of fun to ones image. Besides Corum is an excellent brand. Now if Dad loves to boat - even gets up 4am on Sunday then the Corum Admiral Cup is perfect. In this collection Nautical Flags emblazon the dial or bezel (depending on the watch), and you could almost smell the slightly salty slightly fishy smell of the ocean and feel the fine spray against your cheek.

What about a sporty Dad? One who loves the vroom of racing cars careening round tight bends. Well then the options are endless. I will guide you through a few of them. Tag Heuer is renowned for its Formula 1 Collection. The energy of this collection is palpable. Another great choice which has always reminded me of revved up monster trucks - and if Dad likes big machines, he will go gaga over this collection - Zenith Men's Defy Xtreme. These watches run upwards of $10,000 and deftly fuse titanium and rubber. Some harbor mind boggling tourbillons. I am telling you this, if you get Dad a Zenith Men's Defy Xtreme this year, next year Dad will be happy with his pair of socks, because giving Dad a Defy Xtreme is giving Dad a watch for life. Another excellent sporty watch is a Tissot T-touch, very gadgety and technologically advanced.

If Dad still drives his old clunker from the 1970's and has Mom mend his socks than don't go spending a fortune on his watch. Seiko is an excellent brand with really affordable long lasting watches. Available in a wide range of styles, you are sure to pick out the perfect watch for Dad.

Stop your "high powered jet setting CEO Dad" in his tracks with a Girard-Perregaux World Timer WW.TC Perpetual Calender. This beaut tracks the time of countless cities all over the world, even indicating night or day. If Dad sits in the pilot seat rather than business class then a Breitling Men's Cockpit is the obvious choice. If Dad is in the military (and I salute him) then he will absolutely love the IWC Pilot's Watch Double Chronograph Edition Top Gun or a watch from the U-Boat Collection. One thing about U-boat is its dial is highly discernible in adverse conditions even in the flat light beneath the ocean.

Before you spend the money, strike up a conversation with Dad. Steer it towards watches and see what he says. You never know, maybe he has been yearning for a Cartier Santos, Audemars Piguet Royal Oak or a Concord Delirium. Whatever the watch, you know where to get it - THE WATCHERY, because at THE WATCHERY our watches are priced way below the MSRP so you and Dad get more watch for your money.

Blazing Hot New Watches at THE WATCHERY

Bubble Night Flyer
40% off at THE WATCHERY
Your first stop in luxury watches

This blog is a tad to early for Halloween, but riveting none the less. Corum seriously knows how to send shivers up ones spine. I was just about to blog about THE WATCHERY's vast U-Boat Collection, when this creepy Corum watch snagged my attention. The name Night Flyer dredged up my memory of Steven King's movie of the same name. In fact the monster even resembled Corum's terrifying dial depiction.
Corum's Night Flyer is set beneath a scratch resistant sapphire crystal dome - a signature feature of Corum's Bubble Watches.
The second hand is a sword scimitar (curved swords used by pirates) dipped in red to portray blood. A demonic blood red eye glowers from the skull creating a terrifying image. Come to think of it, this watch is not for the faint at heart. Beneath the dial is an automatic mechanical movement which incorporates a rotor allowing for the watch to be wound by the gentle swinging motion of ones arm. Blood red skeletonized hands indicate the time. The Corum Key is prominently displayed between the 3 and 6 'o'clock position. The round 18k gold case and red stitched black leather strap completes the watch design.

The name Corum stems from the word “quorum” which means “the minimum number of persons present, required to enable a meeting, to hold discussions and take valid decisions”.
Corum symbol - the key- emblazons every watch, a testament to opening new doors of creativity, innovation, watch design and possibilities. There is always a new door to open and the mystery of time can never be completely unraveled.

Water resistant to 200 meters, one can show ones dark side at a cheery pool party. I cannot say if the watch will attract a girl or send her trotting.

The watch comes with a Certificate from the Chairman of Corum.
